[Dohalim/Shionne] But nothin' is better sometimes...
[it had been a night of discoveries, of high emotions, and a near loss of a friend. perhaps all Renans were like this, the tensions of their society and high expectations pushing them to not care of their mental health, but of appearances and to not show this emotions that, in all honesty, they really should work on showing. Dohalim had an idea that there was more to Shionne than met the eye, that she carried something deeper alongside those thorns. when they had finally found her in Pelegion... it had affected Alphen the most, but even he felt a heaviness in his heart.
but for the girl to mention her own suicide mission, that she wanted nothing more than to die as a means to get rid of the thorns, that she'd wished that she never met any of them... Dohalim will admit to himself, when he does think about it. it's easy to think about ending his own life once the task he set for himself is done, but... when he thinks about their friends, a part of him wants to cling to them, wants to live for them. he has a choice whether to live or die, but Shionne...
he is, at least, glad to have inspired some hope in the group with his words. that they could get rid of those thorns and give Shionne the life she deserved. that his words were able to lift the mood a little bit, but the heavy conversation still weighs on his shoulders. he'd spoken briefly to Alphen soon after, but perhaps...
he approaches Shionne later in the night, not being able to sleep. perhaps the both of them could keep watch of the camp for the time being]
Shionne... Would you allow me to join you?

For her, the woman housing something unspeakably terrible that she knows could destroy the world, even if she's yet to know what it truly is behind these thorns and the visions that have haunted her for her entire life. Even after explaining herself, after showing the weak and afraid part of her, they still wanted to see things through to the end. Well... no, that's not quite right.
They want Shionne to live, and they've already given Shionne a reason to not want to die.]
Dohalim.
[It's not a surprise that someone would approach her, even if she's settled a bit away from the camp. That's just how all of them are, and the only question was which one would come talk to her first.]
...You can, but we'll still need to prepare to leave at sunrise.
[Neither of them are going to get any sleep, probably, but she can't just accept things the normal way and she knows Dohalim would talk until the next sunrise if nobody stopped him.]

It is still several hours until then. I believe we can allow ourselves some time to settle down.
[it may not do them good to fly into Lenegis with such high tensions, so allowing themselves the time until sunrise to leave, even just to rest (not sleep, but rest) is a good idea in his books. more so with the tumult Shionne must be feeling at the admission of her inner turmoil. of course, Dohalim thinks, she will probably try to perish any thought of what she truly is feeling right now. on the topic of admissions, Dohalim himself is sure he's not the best to provide comfort for those in their time of need, what with his own hangups, but he can't not try, at least.
if only he could reach out and offer a comforting touch on her shoulder or arm, like he's offered others. he himself is rather touch starved, and he knows this, but for Shionne... no wonder she's so attached to Alphen, and no wonder it affected her so greatly when he pulled away in pain for the first time]
I... Must apologise. For not seeing it sooner.
[he and Shionne are rather alike, so for him not to see what was hiding behind the walls she had put up... for some reason, it digs at him. it fills him with a sense of helplessness]
